I  always have so much fun when I get into SpecialFX makeup. This look was inspired by one of my childhoods scariest movies Chucky. As a child I was so scared of this movie, I could never watch this movie and go to sleep well. I didn't even want to play with dolls. I would receive dolls for Christmas and birthdays, and I would destroy them. I would take the heads off, the arms ect. But that's not what got me into specialfx makeup. I believe it was doing the makeup in school at Tricoci Beauty school. When my teacher first brought this to the class I was a bit unsure because all I seemed to care about was the glam makeup. I looked at makeup as only being the glam. But I was taken by surprise. It turned out that I enjoyed doing specialfx makeup. Although there is still much to be learned about the makeup. I'm surprised at how much I've grown to really have a clear passion for this. This look was created using Kryolan SpecialFX liquid latex, and blood. I hope you enjoy this...

Ripped Skin

Hello my fellow specialfx lovers. I'm super excited about this look I have done for you all today. I feel like with the ripped skin look I got courage to go a bit further with my craft. I thought long and hard when it came to this look. With some help from YouTube I was able to achieve it. With this look I started out with a pretty glam look. For my foundation I used  my favorite from Bobbie Brown , ( I will post about this foundation and everything I've used) for my eyeshadows I used   Urban Decy Gwen Stefani Palette  and also for the brows I used Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow . To continue with my Glam and Golry look, I took my burn and injury color wheel from Kryolan and I began to draw a shape around my nose and mouth. Keep in mind when doing the specialfx it doesn't have to be perfect but you want to make it as believable as possible. Once I had my shape in place I began to lay my Kryolan liquid latex , with the liquid latex you have to move ...

SpecialFX Makeup

In this post here you can see the gory look. This look was created by myself as a school demo. This was a Halloween contest for this young lady. The makeup used here was everything from   Kryolan SpecialFX makeup. We used liquid latex, specialfx blood, and also wax for the look of the skin. Also another thing used here was tissue, you can also use tissue if you do not have the wax for the skin. This look took about an hour or so to create. If you want your look to be super gory I suggest you add more specialfx blood to your work.  http://amzn.to/2nv2Npq

Derrick Rutledge The Makeup Show Chicago

Image
( As Promised) One of my favorite moments about The Makeup Show Chicago, was when I got to sit in and listen Mr. Derrick Rutledge. Derrick is the makeup artist for Ms. Oprah Winfrey. When I sat in on this event, I listen to Mr. Rutledge tell us about his start in the makeup world. He gave up the real, letting us know that the start wasn't as easy as it looks now. We got to go deep into Mr. Rutledge's life on a more personal note ( That information I will not share as I do not own rights to disclose that on my blog). Mr. Rutledge has been working with Ms. Winfrey for so many years, traveling the world with her from London to Paris. Derrick Rutledge has also done the makeup for the first lady Mrs. Michelle Obama. As the list goes on Mr. Derrick Rutledge has been all over with his blessed hands and beauty brushes. So when I had gotten the chance to chat with him one on one, I asked one simple question " What advice can you give someone like myself who just can't ...

The Makeup Show Chicago

Image
When I first heard about The Makeup Show Chicago , I was a student at Tricoci Beauty School . The makeup legend James Vincent , was a guest at our school. James Vincent is a well known makeup artist around the glob. James has worked with well known stars such as Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine. He stopped in to talk with the students who like myself would be interested in working in the makeup industry.  I was super excited to be his makeup guest for this school demo, since everyone in the school knew how much of a passion I have for makeup. James did a quick simple daytime makeup demo on me. Which I loved and didn't want to take off his look he had done on me. After doing his demo, we the students had the opportunity to perches tickets to the Makeup Show Chicago. I was overwhelmed with such joy when Mr. Vincent asked me to be his guest at the show. The day of the makeup show, I arrived on time ( early) and had the honor of meeting so many great b...
